• 🚖 Taxi – The fastest and most convenient option. Taxis are readily available outside the arrivals terminal. The journey to Funchal city center takes approximately 20–25 minutes and costs around €30–€35, depending on traffic and exact destination. Note that there is an additional charge of €1.50 per piece of luggage.

• 🚌 Aerobus Shuttle – A more affordable alternative. The Aerobus operates between Madeira Airport and Funchal, with multiple stops near major hotels. It runs daily from approximately 04:00 to 01:45, with departures every 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the time of day. The journey takes about 30–40 minutes and costs €6.40 for a one-way ticket. Tickets can be purchased online, on the bus (cash or card), or at the airport.

In Madeira, casual Western-style clothing is completely normal and accepted everywhere, including in cities, rural areas, and tourist spots. 🧢👕

Light clothing is recommended during the day, especially from spring to autumn, as the island enjoys a mild, subtropical climate. Think T-shirts, shorts, light trousers, and summer dresses. 🩳👗

Evenings can be cooler, especially in the mountains, so bring a light jacket or sweater just in case. 🌬️🧥

For hikes and levada walks, wear comfortable hiking shoes, sportswear, and a hat, and don’t forget sunscreen and a reusable water bottle. 🥾🧴🧢

Swimwear is of course fine at the beach or pool, but cover up when leaving those areas – walking shirtless through town isn’t common. 🏖️🚫👕
